Part 4 Projects
While the Department predominantly assesses development proposals under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, it also uses Part 4 of the Act for its assessment work.
This section of the register outlines the types of projects being assessed by the Department under Part 4 of the Act. Included in the 'active' project tracking system are proposals lodged with the Department on or after 1 January 2009. For Part 4 projects assessed by the Department prior to 2009, see Notices of Determination [2000 to 2008].
Outdoor Advertising Signage
The Department has a?role in assessing some proposed advertising signs, including development applications:
- lodged by RailCorp to erect advertising signs within a railway corridor; or by the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) for advertising signs along transport corridors or on other RTA land
- for the Sydney Harbour Tunnel, Eastern Distributor, M2, M4, M5 and M7 motorways, Cross City Tunnel, or associated road-use land that is adjacent to such a road.

Alpine Resorts Area
The Minister for Planning is the consent authority for development in the alpine resorts located within the Kosciuszko National Park. the resorts include Thredbo, Perisher Valley, Smiggins Holes, Blue Cow, Guthega, Charlotte Pass, Selwyn Snowfields and other smaller accommodation facilities.
