Help
This major projects tracking system website provides information about projects which are before the NSW Department of Planning for assessment, or have been determined by the Minister for Planning (or delegate). It only covers projects which have been declared as major projects under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (EP&A Act), modifications to such aprovals, and State significant site proposals.
LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA SEARCH
The best way to find out about a particular project is to use the search function available on the bottom left hand corner of the home page. This allows people to search for projects via:
- Keyword; and/or
- Project location (listed by local government area)
ASSESSMENT STEPS
The website tracks the assessment steps of each project. Below is an explanation of each assessment step, starting at the first step (applied) to the final step (determination).
Applied: The proponent has applied to the Department for the project to be considered under Part 3A of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act.
DGRs issued: The Department has issued Director-General's requirements (DGRs) for the project outlining the key issues which need to be addressed by the proponent in an environmental assessment. No such environmental assessment has been lodged as yet.
Adequacy test: The Department has received a draft environmental assessment and is considering whether it meets the DGRs, or has recently made a decision that it does meet the DGRs.
Exhibition: The proponent's environmental assessment has met the DGRs adequacy test and is now on exhibition.
Preparing response: The proponent has been asked to respond to submissions raised during the public exhibition process.
Assessment: The proposal is before the Department for assessment.
Determination: The proposal has been determined (either approved or refused).
In regard to State significant sites, the term "Section 39 Prep" means that the Department is currently considering whether to recommend the Major Projects SEPP be amended to accompany the site as a State significant site.
